Discover Andrés' dynamic musical scores in Film and Television
Andrés Galindo Arteaga is a BIPOC Colombian-Canadian multi-SOCAN foundation award-winning screen composer based in Toronto, known for blending traditional folkloric acoustic instruments with contemporary electronic synthesis. He completed an internship at the Screen Composers Guild of Canada and was selected as one of ten participants for the SOCAN Labs scoring retreat program in 2022, where he was mentored by CSA Rich Williamson (Scarborough, TIFF) and Steph Copeland (Cascade, The Oak Room, Viscious Fun).
His compositions have been featured in series, TV movies, and opening themes for networks such as Lifetime, Sky History, Bell Media, and OutTV. Highlights include premieres of his works at festivals like CaribbeanTales, T.O. Webfest, Blood in the Snow, and iSAFF. His score for Acid Wash debuted at TIFF Bell Lightbox and was also included in TIFF’s “Short Film, Big Ideas: Community Impact” 2023 program.
Andrés has shared his expertise as a guest speaker at institutions and accelerator programs such as the Canadian Film Centre, the Canadian Musicians Co-op, The HOOK sync group and the Musical Conservatory of Ibagué, Colombia.
His ability to craft distinctive soundscapes has led to collaborations, including additional music for prominent composer Gemini and CSA-winning composer Mark Korven (The Black Phone, The Lighthouse, The Witch).
A four-time SOCAN Foundation award winner, Andrés has received grants from esteemed institutions such as the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, and FACTOR. He continues to bring fresh musical currents to a variety of projects, ranging from TV series and films to documentaries and his own conceptual instrumental compositions.
